Our retreat house is a very special and rather magical place. It has extraordinary potential to help you find balance and joy. We want everyone there whether friend, guest or member of staff to share in and contribute to the magic.

It is important to us that you, and all our guests, have a relaxed and pleasurable experience, so here are a few house rules, terms & legals to ensure we all do.

We reserve the right to ask you to leave straight away (without refund) if we consider any of the House Rules or Retreat Terms have been disrespected and/or you are disrespectful to our team.

We would also advise that unfortunately the house isn’t suitable for guests with mobility issues as it has a great many stairs.

Please note there is no smoking anywhere in the house, including the terraces and immediate external vicinity and no guest should use, ingest, possess or distribute illegal drugs while on the premises.

By booking and therefore agreeing to these terms and conditions, I/we state that I/we wish to participate in the retreat and all the activities (optional), which include but are not limited to: yoga, pilates, tai chi, meditation, excursions, walks, cycling, and therapy treatments. I/we realise that my/our participation involves the risk of injury and even the possibility of death. Furthermore, I/we confirm that I/we are voluntarily engaging in an acceptable level of exercise and MY Food Lifestyle Ltd are not responsible for any injuries or losses.

We will not be liable for any of the events described, or others beyond our control or to any guest for any loss damage or injury suffered by them or their property howsoever caused, save in respect of death or personal injury caused by our negligence or that of our staff. This is not intended to affect any mandatory rights you have under local law that we cannot legally restrict or exclude.

It is mandatory that each guest has their own travel insurance policy. You are responsible for ensuring that you have a valid passport and all necessary travel documentation.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We highly recommend holiday insurance for all clients. This must be bought independently as it is not included in the retreat price.

If for any reason you need to cancel your retreat place after you have booked with us, the following refund policy will apply:

All cancellations must be received in writing.

Once you have confirmation of your booking you have a further 24hrs to cancel and obtain a full refund.

After this period the following conditions will apply:
Excluding non refundable deposit
50% refund on cancellations between 60-89 days prior to the start date of the booked retreat.
30% refund on cancellations between 30-59 days prior to the start date of the booked retreat.
No refund on cancellations between 29-0 days prior to the start date of the booked retreat.

No refund will be provided for premature leaving of the retreat or failure to arrive at the retreat for any reason.

All retreat payments are due 30 days prior to the start date of the booked retreat, unless otherwise specified. Clients whose balances are not received by the 30 day deadline, risk forfeiting their retreat booking.

Payments At Retreat
Please note that payment for items at the retreat; such as treatments, can only be paid for by debit or credit card or Euros.

Retreat Cancellation
If we are unable to host the retreat for any reason we will inform you as soon as possible. We will give full refunds if this occurs, for the avoidance of doubt this is the retreat cost and the transfer cost if applicable, but we will not pay for any loss with flights.

Flights to Faro airport must be booked independently.

Please ask if you need help with booking a transfer from or to Faro airport.

Clients who book transfers independently will need to take full responsibility for their transfers but as a word of warning, the retreat is located in a remote area and people arriving on independent transfers often get lost and charged more for the journey.

As this is a private home, things are set up the way the family like them, please note they may not always be conventional!

Security
On the basis that this is a house in which groups of friends and family stay, there are no hotel style locks on bedroom doors - and no keys to lose or forget! (There is a small safe in every room to protect the essentials should you wish.) Following the no key to lose idea, when the house is occupied, access through the front door is care of a digital key pad. (We will share the code when you arrive.) This has proved a wonderful way for guests to enjoy the freedom of exploring the town, with no need for military style coordination!

The Pool
Being in the heart of Olhao’s old town, we are sensitive to the fact that noise travels and neighbours are sensitive to noise (and to water from the pool - of which more below...) With this in mind, we ask guests not to use the pool or pool terrace after 10pm.

For the warm sunny days, when sun-cream is essential, please shower before going in the pool and if using P20, please be careful as it stains terribly (bathroom vanities and bed/bath linens in particular)

The rooftop pool is beautiful. Heated, when needed. Not huge; but it is a truly magical experience to swim overlooking the rooftops, to the sound of the church bells. To ensure the lovely neighbours are not drenched as they walk by on their way to work (and yes, this has happened!), please remember that the pool is more for refreshment than exercise - and most of all, please do not jump in! And with an eye on health & safety, please do not to take glasses up to the terrace. There are good quality melamine glasses available in the pool bar and jugs available in the kitchen.

Daily Maid Service
Daily maid service every day (except Sunday) is intended to freshen the rooms, and keep the house lovely for everyone to enjoy, please note it is not ‘room service’. Whilst guests are welcome to take glasses, mugs and plates to their rooms, please return them to the kitchen and pop them in the dishwasher.

The 5 day stay includes a change of bath towels on day 3. One beach towel per person is also included. The bed linen will be fresh on arrival.

We have avoided putting locks on cupboards, because we prefer a relationship of trust. However, we reserve the right to charge additional laundry fees if people help themselves to extra linens.

Room Liability
If you damage your room or any of the property within your room or it is lost at the end of your stay we will charge the cost of repairing / replacing / redecorating.

Wifi
The house has wifi throughout. You are welcome to use it liberally in your rooms but in keeping with the idea that this is a place to be inspired through conversation, creativity and new experiences, we would ask you not to use phones and laptops on the terraces or in the other common areas. In the hope we can encourage you to a full digital detox, please note that there are no televisions.

Alcohol
We will not be serving any alcohol with any of the meals and request that you do not bring alcohol into the house.

Complaints
Should you have any complaints about your experience please speak to Nas, or Angela immediately and we will endeavour to resolve the issue immediately.

We reserve the right to ask you to leave straight away (without refund) if we consider any of these house rules to have been disrespected.

Health Restrictions
If you are currently pregnant, or under medical or psychiatric supervision, you must provide a Doctor’s certificate confirming your fitness to travel and take part in the retreat as well as notifying us.

This retreat is unfortunately not suitable for those with psychiatric or deep emotional issues or those looking for counselling or therapy, as our team are not professionally qualified in these areas.

Our team are also not medically trained and do not know your medical history so cannot offer any specific medical advice whilst at the retreat. All health issues must be disclosed at the time of booking.

Many health benefits are associated with regular exercise, eating healthily and therapy treatments. However a small number of people should not participate in certain activities and should seek medical advice. In case of any doubt please consult a doctor before commencing physical activity/radically changing your diet/or receiving a treatment.

Social Media
We ask you to respect the wishes of all guests regarding what images or other recording of your stay at the house may be taken and shared on social media (or otherwise). The local staff have been asked to adhere to the strictest confidentiality standards and we will. MY Food will be using content for marketing purposes and we will speak to all our guests to ascertain their personal choices.

Clothing & Footwear
Whilst the Algarve boasts 300+ days of sunshine each year, in March the weather can still be changeable and temperamental and the evenings chilly. We would advise you to bring loose, relaxed sports clothing and loungewear that can be easily layered. This is an informal retreat, so please feel free to bring only casual clothing.

The house floors are mainly wood or tiles and due to the unique layout, you will be in and out all of the time, please make sure you have some light footwear or flipflops that are easy to slip on and off. A good pair of trainers or similar is a must for exploring the town, exercise or any activities.

Toiletries
We have placed a Connock London Kuku Oil Discovery Collection in your room, please bring any other toiletries you need.

Exercise & Activities
Before you arrive we will send a schedule of activities and ask you to indicate which you are interested in. Some require booking and all are subject to change due to, weather, team availability, participation numbers and availability. All exercise & meditation is at the house, held daily and completely optional and all equipment is provided.

Towels
You of course will have lovely fluffy towels in your guest suites but we also provide you with a beach towel for use whilst staying with us. Please note these remain the property of the house.

Shopping Bags
We provide each room with a wicker shopping bag to be used during your stay, inside or outside the house. Please note these remain the property of the house.

Drinking
We do not serve alcohol, however there are plenty of local establishments that do. Please respect these rules and the decisions of others. We are a small group and need to respect each other throughout the stay. Filtered water and herbal teas will be available at any time in the kitchen throughout your stay and we will surprise you with delicious alcohol free drinks!

Smoking
Please note there is no smoking anywhere in the house, including the terraces and immediate external vicinity. No guest should use, ingest, possess or distribute illegal drugs while on the premises.

Parking
Parking in the old town is an experience. On the plus side, in most areas (but not all, so please take care) it is free. For the faint of heart, we recommend declining the car rental company’s offer to upgrade and opt for the smallest car you are comfortable with. The streets of the old town are narrow and in places tricky to navigate. But don’t worry, although you may not be able to park in the immediate vicinity, you will be able to drop off your bags and then park within a short walk nearby. It is worth considering whether you need a car at all - a taxi from the airport is no more than 25 euro and almost everything in Olhao is within walking distance.

Now you know all you need to, you can relax and look forward to A Healthy Haven!
